FRUITS OF LIFE

“highly original production”
The BritishTheatre Guide

Fruits of Life is an emotional and intense drama in which two young models, who are being painted by an artist, become lovers.
It is brought to the stage through an original theatrical narration method that is characterised by the interaction between the actors, 3D animations, video clips and live shots.
An harmonic combination of screen projections and live performances.

SYNOPSIS

Laurence is a painter who has to paint the passion of lovers, for this reason he employs two models to simulate love for his painting and forbids them to meet anywhere but the work place.
This order is the cause that touches off the two young people’s transgression, involving them in a passionate love story.
In the creation of his painting Laurence anticipates what is happening in the two young models' forbidden love story.
But only when Nature intervenes in the two young people’s life, upsetting it, is the art influenced by it too.
After having known its terrible effects, the painter has no spontaneity in creating, so the lovers’ silhouettes  leave his painting forever.

SCENIC LANGUAGE

The GiaNic Group proposes a new theatrical model in which the moving images of the digital scene are seamlessly woven into the narrative.

The group, respecting the Italian dramaturgy standards, tends to use a compatible language with the actual culture of images. The modern public is used to encoding the visual language, that proposes ideas through the stratification of images and sounds.

So in the play Fruits of Life the group uses:

  • Elements that come from Cinematic Language to communicate concepts and emotions through images.
  • Computer Graphics for the creation and animation of setting and characters.
  • The Live Shots, of the actors’ performance, to increase the visual perception of particular scenic moments and to enrich the expressive range of the actor.

The images, projected on the screen, generated with the use of the previously mentioned instruments and accompanied by sounds and music, help to extend the  expressive staging potentialities and allow the group to amplify the visual elements of the show, facilitating the telling of the story and increasing the enjoyment of the play, so giving a deeper understanding .

”What is unique about GiaNic’s production is the method of its telling,”, “one of the Fringe’s more interesting experimental shows this year.” The British Theatre Guide

“A sweet and touching story emerges in this emotional drama by Italian playwright Gianfranco Nicolini”, “The interaction between the 3D animations, videoclips and the actors is captivating.”, “a deep and intense arthouse-style play.” Curio Festival
